Xavier Antin’s Printers

London-based graphic designer Xavier Antin’slatest installation piece Just in Time explores the printing process and deals with notions of production scale. By setting up a printing chain, made with four desktop printers which each print a different color (magenta first, then cyan, then black and finally yellow) and use a different technology, the piece addresses both print production history and its current magnitude. The resulting book comes in an edition of 100 and has 42 pages, as well as an information sheet informing the user about each of the individual printers, which date back to 1880.
